We are pleased and proud to announce that our colleague and friend Attorney Katherine Gatti Rooks has been appointed to serve as an Administrative Law Judge by the Workers’ Compensation Board for the State of Maine. Judge Gatti Rooks will be presiding in formal hearings from the Workers’ Compensation Board’s Lewiston Regional Office once her transition from our offices has been completed.  The State of Maine is fortunate to have the skills and talents Kate will bring to the bench.

Ira is a graduate of the University Maine School of Law.  During law school, he worked as a student attorney at the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic, where he provided legal representation to low income clients in an assortment of civil and criminal matters.

Following law school, Ira has worked in higher education administration and practiced law in northern Maine, where he worked primarily on family law, criminal defense, and probate matters.  Before law school, Ira earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Guilford College where he graduated with honors.

Ira lives in Brunswick and spends his free time playing and recording music.  He plays many instruments but is focused lately on playing guitar and synthesizers.  Ira also enjoys photography, cooking and baking, and being outside in nature.

Most notably for many, Ira’s dog Julia is our office dog.  She is well regarded throughout our office building for her sweet and gentle demeanor.  She can be found weekdays at our office, where she is likely sleeping, asking fellow staff for pets or treats, or greeting clients.
